Maze Runner: The Death Cure interviews: Dylan O’Brien, Kaya Scodelario, Will Poulter, Thomas Brodie-Sangster and Wes Ball

I got the chance to interview the stars of the third and final instalment of the Maze Runner franchise.

Dylan – who shot to fame in Teen Wolf – spoke on how he doesn’t know what projects are next for him following the end of the series and the franchise.

Kaya spoke on whether there will be a sixth Pirates of the Caribbean movie and Thomas revealed who he thinks should be on the Iron Throne when Game of Thrones ends in 2019.

Here are the full interviews:

Dylan O’Brien

Maze Runner is coming to an end, how is that feeling?

It’s a mixture of things man. So many different emotions to be honest. It’s super sad. It’s like we are all going to miss it dearly. We are never going to get this time back together but obviously we are always going to have each other in our lives. And that’s what it is all about. If you ever come out of a working experience with close friends like it is really special.

It’s been five years, you must all be quite close?

Yeah definitely.

Teen Wolf has ended, what are you doing to do now?

Nothing, I guess. It’s only hitting me on the press tour. When people are asking me what my next job is going to be. I don’t know. It’s exciting when the future holds a new chapter. it’s exciting. I’ve never been without the show or these films it will be fun. I dunno, these two things will always be the most special to me.

Are there any other franchises you would love to get behind?

I am a huge fan of the original Star Wars, but I dunno, it’s cool to try and create your own franchise. [like Maze Runner] yeah let’s see if someone remakes this in a couple of years, I would be honoured!

Kaya Scodelario

It’s the end how does it feel?

It feels really weird. It’s been such a long time, we knew it was coming but we didn’t think this day would come. But we are really proud of these three movies we have built together and we have the fans as well.

What can fans expect?

A lot more action, a lot more adventure and also there are questions that need to be answered and I think it is really important. The fans have been on such a long journey with us I think we owe it up to them to tie up the loose ends.

You’ve played two strong female roles in both the Maze Runner franchise and Pirates of the Caribbean, are you drawn to these roles?

Yeah! Have you ever met a female who is boring? Exactly, so why do we see that on camera? I think that, I hate the term ‘strong female character’ because I think women can still be vulnerable and interesting. And they are just characters and they have to be whole. I like playing women who are a whole. Who have a start a finish and a journey, and I’ve been lucky enough to do that so far but it shouldn’t be luck, it should be what it is.

Will there be a sixth Pirates movie?

I don’t know. I would love to go back. I had such an amazing time shooting and we had so much fun, it was great to be part of such an epic, landscape, movie but as of yet I haven’t heard anything.

Will Poulter

What can fans expect?

This is the most action packed and entertaining of the three. And the most emotional in that you are seeing multiple sort of narratives coming into the prose. Things are being tied up that are hard to bear. There are few surprises in there as well and yeah, for me, it’s the best out of three, it really is.

The franchise has been running for five years, you all must pretty close friends?

Oh yeah, we meet up at any given opportunity in between shooting these films and we have grown close to each other which has served well on screen. It just meant that we have built some great, genuine friendships to safe well after these movies are kind of over. But hopefully they live on through the wavering support of our amazing fans.

What is next for you?

I did a film called the Little Stranger which is the next thing that is out for me.

Thomas Brodie-Sangster

It’s the last film, what can fans expect?

It ties the whole thing up. It’s the final instalment answers all the questions that the first two movies asked. And as a movie goer the last two were through the point of view of Thomas he was asking all these questions, who are we? What are our morals? Who are the bad guys? And you were asking them with him. But in this one, we have a bit of a purpose and a bit more of a drive and there’s material to it. There’s some sad moments but you will leave with a sense of knowing that these characters on.

Any other franchise you want to get in?

No not really, I am only a fan if characters or people. That’s the kick I get out of being an actor is to play around with my own character and what is it to be alive and be a human being and play around with that in another character that has enough depth and have a good play. That’s all I think about when I’m going for roles.

Of course, you were in Game of Thrones, who do you want to see on the Iron Throne at the end?

Me! As a ghost!

Wes Ball

How does that feel to have everything now ended?

It’s good. It’s happy. But it’s sad. You know, I think we are all proud we have got to the end of this thing. It’s something that we probably that has gone well beyond what we were anticipating and we first started this thing five years ago, we are so thrilled to bring this closure to the fans. And it think we are all kind of excited to move on to new things.

What have you got lined up next?

I’m working on a few things, you know. Different irons in the fire, but I dunno, I guess I’m going to take a vacation for once and recharge and think what I am going to do next.
